Now this is the best news of 2007 - my mate Suze DeMarchi and the boys from Perth (with the exception of Dave Leslie who’s from Newcastle) are back … yes, the BA’s, one of the five best Oz rock bands ever, announced today that after 13 years they are reforming, have a new album in the can and a tour to follow.

Here’s the full press release from Mushroom.
THE BABY ANIMALS
If only we could get away with one word, one letter, one line … but we can’t.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the rumours are true! After a long silence of thirteen years, we are thrilled to confirm The Baby Animals have reformed.
THE PAST:
Their eponymous debut album Baby Animals was released in September 1991. The album debuted at number six on the ARIA Charts and spent six weeks at number one, eventually going eight times platinum and becoming the highest-selling debut Australian rock album of all time (until the release of Jet ’s album 12 years later).
The Baby Animals f@#$ off rock n roll attitude and relentless live performance ethic earned them the respect of the Australian Music industry and the big three at the 1992 ARIA AWARDS: ‘Best Debut Album’, ‘Best Single’, and ‘Best Album’.
They follow up with the critically acclaimed Shaved & Dangerous in 1993 and tour the USA with Robert Plant before returning home to headline their own Australian tour. In 1995 on the verge of their first major US tour, their US-based record company Imago Records folds after losing its distributor, BMG. The band tries unsuccessfully to be released from the Imago label. Soon afterwards in early 1996 the band take a break from touring and recording while Suze focuses on motherhood.
THE PRESENT:
After initially feeling a little nervous about getting together again, Suze DeMarchi, Dave Leslie (guitar), Eddie Parise (bass) and Frank Celenza (drums) hit the rehearsal studios and clicked straight back into that rocking place that made us all love them. So good in fact that plans are now under way to record a new ‘Rock’ record mid-2008.
The Baby Animals have recorded an album for the now legendary Liberation Blue Acoustic series. The album IL GRANDE SILENZIO, has been produced by Justin Stanley and is due for release early 2008.
Liberation are also going to re-release the bands 2 studio albums Baby Animals & Shaved & Dangerous - both of which will be digitally remastered. A release date will be confirmed soon.
And while the album news is pretty exciting, things are only going to get better with the news that a national tour announcement is just weeks away.
Let’s just say we’re giving you an Early Warning.”
